Thomas Vermaelen Facing Six Weeks Out Defender Recovering From Surgery On Achilles Injury.

Thomas Vermaelen's father has revealed his son is expected to be out for up to 6 weeks as he recovers from surgery on an Achilles injury and the Belgian stopper suffered the injury in the club's UEFA Champions League play-off match against Udinese last month and it was initially hoped he would not require surgery.
