Manchester United's Wayne Rooney has won four Premier League titles and improved Liverpool will challenge for the Premier League title in the new season.

George Boateng to join Hasselbaink at Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment.

Probe launched after worker is killed in stadium roof tragedy and the Dutch police have launched a criminal investigation into the roof collapse at FC Twente's De Grolsch Veste stadium.

Part of the stadium's roof caved in on Thursday, killing one construction worker and injuring 15 others and the incident occurred while renovation work was being carried out to add a new tier of seating to a stadium and Police have formed a special team of investigators to establish whether any crime led to the collapse at the venue, which is situated on a outskirts of the Enschede.

It was confirmed on Friday that one of the injured is still in critical condition, while six other people remain hospitalised and the investigators are appealing for amateur video to help piece together how the roof suddenly fell is thought Eredivisie side Twente will be forced to play of their upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifying round games at  neighbouring ground.

Dale tie up Darby loan and the Full back becomes fifth signing since Eyre took charge at Spotland

Rochdale have confirmed the signing of Liverpool defender Stephen Darby on a season long loan deal and he said news paper revealed earlier on Thursday that Dale had won the race to sign Darby for the 2011/12 campaign ahead of several other clubs.

Doncaster Rovers, MK Dons and Oldham Athletic were all keen on Darby, who spent most of last season on loan in League One with Notts County and he is behind Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly in the pecking order at the Liverpool and his move to a Spotland will give the 22-year-old the chance to build up his first team experience.

Fifa ban Concacaf hopeful and Authorities take action against Austin and Warner has vacated his roles with the Concacaf federation and Fifa.

The power struggle to take over for the Fifa vice presidency vacated by a Jack Warner has taken another twist after the world governing body announced and they have again banned Lisle Austin from football related activities and the austin went to court in the Bahamas last week to try to force through his appointment as successor to Jack Warner as president of the Concacaf confederation of countries from north and central America and the Caribbean - a position which includes being a Fifa vice-president.

Austin from Barbados, had been banned by Concacaf and Fifa but the 75-year-old, a long-time ally of Warner's, emerged from the court claiming victory and the Fifa's disciplinary committee have taken further action against him specifically for his decision to go to the civil courts rather than the Court of a Arbitration of Sport.

Fifa's statutes say "recourse to ordinary courts of law is prohibited unless specifically provided for in the Fifa regulations" and the Fifa spokesman said, "We can confirm that he has been provisionally suspended by the disciplinary committee on Monday for lodging a claim in front of the State Court of Bahamas."

Warner announced last month he was quitting football after being provisionally suspended by the Fifa on bribery charges and the alfredo Hawitt from Honduras has assumed the role of acting president of Concacaf.

Liverpool agree deal to buy Blackpool's Charlie Adam and he scored at Anfield last season in a superb captain's display for Blackpool

England have climbed to a joint high for fourth spot in Fifa's latest world rankings

England have climbed to a joint high fourth spot in Fifa's latest world rankings, while Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have also gone upwards and Fabio Capello's England side have moved above Brazil and Argentina in the rankings, despite only reaching the last 16 in last summer's World Cup, and failing to win two of their last three qualifying matches for next summer's European Championship.

The last time England were as high as fourth was in 1997, when they moved up as a result of a decent performance as hosts of Euro 1996 and the Unsurprisingly, Spain continue to top of a charts ahead of the team they beat in the World Cup final, Netherlands, while Germany have moved up a place to 3rd.

England's points total of 1,146 puts them 16 ahead of fifth-placed Brazil, with Italy, Portugal and Croatia next in the list and Mexico have moved up 19 places to claim a place in the top 10, ahead of Argentina who complete the top 10 and the Republic of Ireland have won their last two Euro 2012 qualifiers and that form has helped Giovanni Trapattoni's team climb three places to 31 in the standings.

Michel Platini claims the introduction of technology would be bad for football, suggesting the use of additional referees is sufficient in the bid to rid the game of high-profile errors and he says, does not want to see any change beyond the use of additional referees.
